Campaign for the 2018 Homecoming Launched

The UPIEAA Board formally launches the 2018 IE Homecoming dubbed as:

Balik Tambayan: 53 Years of IE
October 20, 2018, Saturday
IE/ME Building (behind National Engineering Center)
Registration starts 5PM.

“Unknown to many is that the UP IE Program has been in existence since 1965, with the first batch graduating 1967,” declares 2018 Homecoming Co-Chairperson Cilla Sugay. “Fifty-three years later, with the new IE/ME Building, we felt it would be exciting to invite our over 2700 alumni back to their tambayan.”

How to Register

The registration fee of P1,200 will cover heavy cocktails and overflowing beer. However, the Early Bird Rate of P1,000 applies if one registers and pays on or before September 28. The organizing committee is also opening a Barkada Package rate of P8,000 for a specially reserved table for 8 which comes with 2 bottles of wine.

A Different Program

“We will be doing things very differently as we would like to allot more time to fun and fellowship,” Sugay continues. “Instead of speeches, we will have live performances. And to make the event memorable, we are adopting the Oktoberfest theme.”

Concurrent with the homecoming are 2 annual alumni events:

• The nomination of the UP IE candidate for UPAE’s Professional Degree Awardee for Industrial Engineering
• The election of 6 alumni to the UPIEAA Board of Trustees.

The Homecoming  (which takes place once every 2 years) will also be a special night of recognition for the alumni jubilarians, graduates of 2007 and 2008 (10 years), 1992 and 1993 (25 years), 1977 and 1978 (40 years) and 1967 and 1968 (50 years).

The 2018 Homecoming is a project of UPIEAA, IE Club, and CIEM. Sugay says, “Organizing the biggest gathering of IEs can only be done in partnership with the two IE student orgs. We are excited to have them on board.”
