Meet our Achievers for AY 2019 – 2020

Posted on: Oct 1, 2019

For this academic year, the UPIEAA Achievers Program awarded six (6) grantees. Let’s get to know them!

The UPIEAA is pleased to present the new batch of AchIEver scholars, Academic Year 2019-2020. From left to right: Joniel Christopher P. Ferrer, 5th year and past recipient; Jacqueline Zosa Fernandez, 3rd year; Mike Albert V. Aquino, 5th year; Sander Louie Ocuaman Lee, 5th year; Joie Ann Gilaberte Caurel, 5th year; and Ted Angelo Cruz, 5th year. Mr. Lee will receive a grant from Engineer Jose Aliling.

Mike Albert Aquino, 8-May-1999; 4th year; from Baguio City.

When I graduate, I would like to explore the different IE fields and gain knowledge and experience, in order to find the best situation for me to leave a positive impact onto society. Ultimately, I can use the information I would have gained to set-up my own company, one that focuses on minimizing, if not totally eliminating, plastic waste.

Joie Ann Caurel, 15-July-1999; 5th year, Quezon City.

After graduation, I seek to grow more as an industrial engineer. I want to help in improving systems and processes for the betterment of my country. Soon, I’m hoping to have my own cafe and through it, help out those who are in need.

Jacqueline Fernandez, 31-Oct-2000; 3rd year; Paranaque City.

After finishing the program, I envision myself to be an Industrial Engineer for the people in the path of business management. I hope to work in an organization where I can spark the change for proper and better treatment towards all employees. I’d also like to take up a master’s degree to gain deeper knowledge on Humanitarian Engineering and/or Industrial Psychology.

Sander Lee, 5th year.

“I am not eyeing for a specific industry to work for in the future, but I would like to see myself in an organization that encourages growth to its employees. I hope to develop the eagerness to continuously look for ways of helping others, one of which is by making processes even better.”

Ted Angelo Cruz, 21-May-1998, 5th year; Malolos, Bulacan.

“After completing my degree, I plan to get an opportunity at a large company to maximize my exposure to the different fields that the IEs can go to. When I have enough experience, credibility, and expertise, I hope to share my knowledge one way or another and to use these to give back to the community that allowed me to develop to the person I will be.”

Joniel Christopher Ferrer, 16-Sept-1996; 5th year; San Pedro, Laguna.

“Upon completing my degree, I envision myself working in the Government Offices or Non- Government Organization which do have goals of serving the people and the environment to share my IE knowledge to improve systems and services. And I plan to pursue a master’s degree on information system or ergonomics.”

Message from Ricky Peña

6 young dreamers, all brimming with hope and confidence on what their future holds. Seemingly, they are no different from any IE students, past or present, who have walked the halls of Melchor. Yet each one has a story to tell about deep challenges brought about by fate or circumstance, about conditions that have invaded their minds with anxiety and uncertainty.

The help we give is the help that lets them ACHIEVE – ours is the support system that allows struggling IE students to focus on what is essential at this time of their young lives – to complete their IE education. Now on its 4th year, the UPIEAA Achievers program has helped previous recipients closer to making their dreams come true, and now promises the same to our new crop of Achievers.

Please help the UPIEAA Achievers program live on. Kindly pay it forward with your generous support. Thank you!
