New UPIEAA Board Invites IE Org Representatives to March and April 2017 Board Meetings
At the March 23, 2017 UPIEAA board meeting at Valle Verde Country Club, the board welcomed representatives from the IE reps to the Engineering Student Council, the IE Club, and CIEM to the regular board meeting. The student reps were invited by Vice President Kenny Bulahan, as a first meeting to address the areas of cooperation between the IE alumni and student organizations. The main concern of UPIEAA with IE Club and CIEM was in regards to their own alumni homecoming events. Since IE Club was celebrating its 50th anniversary while CIEM its 40th. And based on the feedback of the organization reps, they had been able to draw decent alumni crowds during their past homecoming events which surprised the UPIEAA directors. It was agreed that UPIEAA would share its alumni data base with the two student organizations.
With the two IE reps to the ESC, the discussion centered around the annual graduation ball which is the responsibility of the IE reps and which, for the past two years, UPIEAA has financially supported. But for both ESC as well as IE Club and CIEM, the timing of the invitation was slightly off since these organizations were having their annual elections in the April-May timeframe. Hence it was decided that UPIEAA would invite the new incumbents once the student elections had concluded.
At the very next UPIEAA monthly meeting, last April 27, 2017, true to its word, the AA invited the newly elected representatives from the UPIE Club, CIEM, and the IE reps to the ESC. Attending were Laura , the VP-external for IE Club, Tony , the new CIEM president, and Reilly and Prei , two of the three new IE representatives to the ESC.
