UPIEAA Honors 5 Distinguished Alumni for 2018
“Last October 20, 2018 UPIEAA honored five distinguished alumni for their career achievements” reports Trustee Jop Yap, Chairman of the Selection Committee. “By highlighting the accomplishments of these alumni, UPIEAA provides a glimpse on the different ways that a UP IE education can lead to a lifetime of productive work.”
Selected as this year’s Distinguished Alumni are:
Edwin Romualdo G. Reyes (Banking)
Jesse O. Ang (National Development Finance)
Leah A. Macatangay (Engineering Education)
Christine S. Pardinas (Supply Chain Management)
Ruel T. Amparo (Social Enterprise)
DOST Sec. Fortunato “Boy” de la Peña presented the awards amidst the cheers of IE alumni who gathered for the 2018 UP IE homecoming. Joining them on stage were UPIEAA President Ricky Banaag, Ric San Juan ‘69 (the eldest IE alumus present), Trustees Jop Yap and Bing del Rosario.
“This can inspire IE students and younger generations of graduates”, said Yap, himself a recipient of the 2016 UPAE Professional Degree Awardee and chosen to be among the 100 outstanding alumni of the UP Diliman College of Engineering as part of its Centennial celebration. “The achievements of the alumni also bestow honor and prestige to the University and the Department of Industrial Engineering. The message delivered is that efforts of the faculty to instil discipline and excellence among students go a long way in fostering success and development.”
