UPIEAA Welcomes IE Alumni during INDIE 2014
Insatiable, Non-conforming Daring iEs (INDIEs) gathered last October 2, 2014 at the Melchor Hall to trade stories, keep updated, and have fun! These competitive breed tried to outdo each other to win the Prizes at stake during the “Sort Yourselves” and “Blanket Game” led by Abby Asistio and Jordan Escusa. They took turns having their batch pictures taken, with some of them even going up to their tambayans to relive memories. Some were handpicked to sing with Abby Asistio.
The UPIEAA Distinguished Alumni Award went to Justiniano (Jody) Santos Gadia BSIE 1982, for his outstanding contribution in the Private Sector. His award read: “Under his leadership, Robinsons Supermarket Corporation has expanded into a multi-billion peso company operating close to 100 branches, with more stores scheduled to open.He is part of the core group responsible for the IPO offering of the Robinsons Retail Group, successfully generating interest that allowed expansion for the company.” UP College of Engineering Dean, Aura Matias, gave the award assisted by UPIEAA President Elise and Awards Committee Head Bernie. Jody was accompanied by his family as he accepted the award. He thanked them and all the people who made it possible for him getting the award.87
UPIEAA President announced the election of four new members of the Board who were elected as follows: Benjie Mirasol (76), Bing del Rosario (76), Kenny Bulahan (87) and Alumni Awardee Jodie Gadia (82) to replace Board who stepped down: President Elise del Rosario (77), VP Ricky Pena (87), Bernie Abis (84) and Roger Singson (83).
All participants were given “Member for a Day” vouchers valid at the Canyon Woods Residential Resort Club as well as grocery bags from Robonson’s supermarket and Misispi Cookies.
Sponsors of the event were: Smart, San Miguel Corporation, Tanduay, Shell and Manila Water. Participants won cellphones and tablets donated by Smart, gift certificates from Marks and Spencer and power banks from Phinma.
