Alumni Elect Trustees for 2019 Board
For the first time in its twelve years, four (4) decades of UP Industrial Engineers are represented in the board.
Last October 20, 2018, alumni gathered for its Annual Membership meeting to elect eight new members to its Board. The trustees-elect will be joining four other members effective November 1st. Fellow alumni, meet your new Board of Trustees:
The new trustees (except for Malou Esguerra who was abroad on official business), took their oaths led by UPIEAA Adviser Sec. Fortunato “Boy” de la Peña. The Annual Membership Meeting was the first segment of the 2018 Alumni Homecoming.
About the UPIEAA Board of Trustees
The Board consists of eleven (11) elected Trustees, each serving for a term of two (2) years. To ensure continuity, five (5) Trustees are elected on odd-numbered years, and six (6) on even-numbered years. Any UPIEAA member is eligible for nomination and election, preferably with a track record of service in the organisation. No trustee may be elected for more than two (2) consecutive terms, but shall be eligible to run again after a lapse of one year. The Board of eleven Trustees then elects from themselves a President, a Vice-President, and a Treasurer. The 12th member of the Board, but non-voting, is reserved for the current IE-OR department head who is also automatically the board Secretary.
Trustees to step down after serving their terms
The six (6) Trustees whose terms end this year include: Virginia Brocka, who is completing her 1st 2-year term; Bing del Rosario, Benjie Mirasol, Kenny Bulahan, and Ricky Banaag, all completing their 2nd 2-year term, and; Mikal Rallonza, who is completing his 1st 2-year term, opting to run for re-election.
Two more trustees who opted to step down before completing their 2nd 2-year terms are Cilla Sugay-Sandoval and Edwin Reyes.

During its first meeting joint meeting with the old board in November 2018, turnover of the activities was discussed and the following officers were elected:
Vice President – Jomari Mercado
Treasurer – Elise del Rosario
Secretary – Lowell Lorenzo
Assistant Secretary – Ana Silvestre
